For a long time I was wondering about the photo opportunities in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The Pine Barrens are a general area, not a specific park or reserve — you couldn’t just go to a webpage, get an address for a parking lot, and grab your backpack and tripod. So a weekend workshop with Liz Guertin to understand the area better seemed the way to go. It was a small group with Liz and Jesse as the leaders. I was too tired to get up real early for sunrise at the rookery, but from the other participants comments, that was probably the best part of the trip. Here are what I consider my best images from the workshop. If I want to explore further, Liz recommended a book by Richard Lewis, “Photographing the New Jersey Pine Barrens” as a useful resource.<\/p>\n
