Notes from Michael Kenna’s<\/strong> Presentation at B & H Optic
\nI thought that Kenna’s presentation was really excellent. These notes don’t do it justice, but you might glean something useful if you weren’t able to see the presentation.<\/p>\n

– Interpretation rather than documentation.
\n– Simplicity – Fundamental shapes.
\n– Learn from the Masters to find your own vision.
\n– Interest in what is NOT shown.
\n– Find the essence.
\n– Relationship, juxtaposition and confrontation in the landscape.
\n– The “power of shadow”.
\n– He photographs better alone to hear what the scene is saying.
\n– Light, atmosphere, movement.
\n– Unpredictability and unexpected results are often a happy surprise and a positive part of photography.
